Life As An Austen Character |
Take some advice from the most beloved characters of Jane Austen's novels, and live an Austen character life. Suggestions for advice are always welcome! |
Hey guys! So I haven’t posted in a looong time…sorry about that, school got crazy. Anyway, I want your opinions! I’m thinking of revamping this blog so reply/send me an ask about what you think would be beneficial! What do you want to see in this blog? More of the same or maybe something new (like becoming a general Jane Austen blog)?
Sorry about the recent lack of posts-school is crazy! But I would greatly welcome some fresh ideas from anyone out there, so if you have ever noticed a lesson (serious or funny or whatever) in any of Austen’s works, feel free to drop it in my ask box! It doesn’t have to be from a specific character either, maybe something Austen herself or one of her works as a whole taught you. Thanks guys!
Parents can be wonderful pillars of support and love. But think for yourself, and grow up when it’s time. You will never have a life of your own living under their shadow….or the shadow of a massive Abbey.
Being silly and letting your emotions run away with you is fun and even healthy in a certain time and place. But don’t let it become habit, because soon you will start to affect others around you in a very dangerous way. And your poor nerves will not be able to handle it! -Mrs. Bennet
Taking guidance and advice from a friend is great, especially when you are young. But don’t betray your heart just because your friend thinks you want something different. Being a farmer’s wife isn’t that bad when you love the farmer with all of your heart. -Harriet Smith
We live in an unfair world, and not everyone gets the happy ending they deserve; never ever take for granted the blessings you receive, especially if they involve a massive estate, a gorgeous and sensible husband, and enough money to bathe in twice a week for the rest of your life. Also, invite your friends over for a very long visit as often as possible. -Charlotte Lucas
No one expects you to love every person you ever meet; but be kind and patient, for you never know who’s taking whatever you say to heart. Plus, listening to letters from Jane is ever so fun, and she only sends them once a week and it’s usually every Tuesday but last Tuesday no letter came at all and we were very concerned but then on Friday… -Miss Bates
When you think you have nothing to lose and greed is driving you, it feels like you are invincible. But at the end of the day, you risk losing more than you ever thought you had-like the admiration of a very lovely (and conveniently positioned) cousin…and a cute potential mistress. -William Elliot
When someone hurts you, it feels like you’ll never trust or love again. But don’t hold on to that bitterness for it will destroy the love in your heart, and love is something that is worth fighting a vain father, conceited spinster older sister, hypochondriac younger sister, and crabby old lady for -Frederick Wentworth.
There will be times when it seems like all hope is lost, and there is no point in trying anymore. But hold on, when you stay true to your character, your selflessness will win over others’ shallow romantic nature every time. Also, it does help if you haven’t seduced and impregnated several women, and your rich relatives found out and disinherited you. -Colonel Brandon.
